A response to Nukie

I'm pretty sure I can respond, and make it through Nukie's censoring... but, why take a chance. He doesn't always post my comments.

The Nukie concert that the little Wakanuki's went to:

Actually, I got the impression that my kids were pretty bad. Very wound up, and had the giggles. Apparently they couldn't stop giggling. It's as if they were on a sugar high ?!?!

But, actually I blame the kids.

Wine:

For any holiday occasion, I make sure to have red and white wine. I prefer red wine, and I like either a Merlot, Cabernet or Shiraz. The ones I select are something in the range of Yellow Tail or Mondavi. I don't like white wine as much, but I try to get something in a similar range for those who do. Nukie on the other hand does not like red wine, but prefers white.

I don't know enough about manners... but I tend to open the bottles that people sometimes bring so that they can also enjoy them. It used to bug me to bring wine to someones house, only to not be offered ANY WINE AT ALL. I think if you don't have a bottle open, then you should at least open the one that someone brought.

So, if the wine actually sucks - maybe it's because people brought crappy wine.

I must admit - Nukie brought over a Pinot Grigio that was pretty good (I tried it after the red).

I think I'll be working the day after Christmas.

Me and another guy, lets call him Sid, share specific responsibilities at work... Work strongly prefers that the two of us do not take off on the same day. It was probably sometime in 2005, that he marked to have off for December 26th 2006. He probably marked it on December 26th 2005 - when I was off.

I was told that I could also take off. "although we would prefer that one of you were here... , but as long as we can get a hold of you".

The probability is incredibly low that there would be any issue, but I find it hard to fully enjoy a day off while making it possible for someone to "get a hold of me". So, I think I will skip carrying the pager at my side, and satellite dish on my head - and I'll just take off different day. Please update your blogs - so that I have something new to read.

Merry Christmas/ Happy Holidays !!!

Where will I be today ?!?!?

Did you ever have someone plan a meeting right at 1:00 p.m.?

So, I guess I better eat lunch EXACTLY at noon, so that I can be back in time for your stinking meeting.

How about those meeting that CREEP into normal lunch hours? You either have to take an early or late lunch...I've had those too!

I THOUGHT those were bad, until someone, eager to get noticed, decided to have a meeting DURING lunch time - No Lie. I'm not kidding. THIS DOES HAPPEN.

But, they make it up to those cheap b*stards who think that it is worth getting a free crap sandwich or a crap wrap in exchange for the precious hour.

I have, tried to get make them unsuccessful at stealing my time by leaving for a while after the "noon to 2:00" meeting. In an attempt to salvage some of my lunch time freedom.

Pretty clever - huh!

Now look closely at today's image. That is what my schedule looks like today (REALLY). BTW, both meetings were made by the same person.

Now what do I do?

Sitting around feeling crappy...

I have a cold. Yesterday, at work, I started sneezing like crazy - only to wipe my nose with harsh napkins; I felt and likely looked like Rudolph. Working in a cubicle, I probably drove my neighbors nuts. Because, when someone else is sneezing all day - I eventually end up getting aggravated letting out an occasional muttered 'shut up already'. But, then again - Remember, I have a temper problem (still working on it). I think I used up too many sick days this year - So, today I am back in the office. This time I'm equipped with nice soft Kleenex, Day Quil and Robitussin.

Some day soon, I plan on posting a picture of my cubicle in a kind of "get to know me better" non-sequential series. I'm not too much into anonymity.

Side note:

Now, I'm not here to give away any prizes (you're going to have to check out Nukie's blog for that), but perhaps I can help someone pick the number. If he already picked the number, then I would guess it to be 7 or 11. Those are nukie numbers. Unless he takes the last two numbers from a significant three digit number, and in that case the number would be 10.

The weekend.

The weekend: Now this is probably going to sound like a crappy weekend that I am complaining about, but in retrospect... I guess it was an o.k. weekend.

Friday night: There was a high windstorm. We heard odd banging noises on the house to which I decided to investigate what was going on outside. Winds of about 60 mph were tearing through the area and took some of the house siding with it. As expected, by morning even more siding was missing. I guess the thing that aggravated me about it was that the shed I built had no damage to its siding.

Saturday: Got rid of cable tv - Had Directv activated (so far so good).

Sunday: Extended family Christmas party. My family was running late (actually unusual). It seemed that we could not get out of the house; this made me get aggravated. Then I learned we had to make a donut stop prior to going to the party that we were already late for; rightly so we didn't want to come empty handed - but I was getting more aggravated. At the donut stop it was learned that we forgot some of babies necessary stuff... I started losing it (not unusual). Wife comes out to say that they didn't have enough glazed tim-bits (little donuts). That's it, the last straw !!! I lost it - a little bit of swearing, I tried to pull the diaper bag out of the back, but it's hooked on some netting. I pull harder, a hook in the new mini-van breaks. My temperature is rising... Wife, baby and oldest daughter decide to stay and wait for the donuts while I pick up what was left behind. I noticed that my 2nd oldest daughter was scrambling to get her boots on so that she can escape crazy dad. I went back to pick up what was left behind - feeling embarassed - I cooled down before picking up the hesitant family up from the donut shop. And this point, I figured we are so friggin late... watta ya gonna do. I stayed calm from that point on.

The party was being held at a restaurant, and the charge for older kids was HIGH. Nukie's family didn't make it - but, the price would have been ridiculous for their entire family. Hamrose didn't make it, but she is typically too busy to make it to such events; so Grandma and Grandpa brought her kids to the party.

It was difficult to find clean dishes and silverware, and the food was EXTREMELY bland. If there was actual service - I'd call it terrible. Dirty dishes were not collected (no not the dirty dishes we received to use). Two workers just seemed to stand around...

None the less, it was nice to get together. And the weekend wasn't too bad. It certainly could have been worse.

How was your weekend?

I'm going to work on the temper problem...
